Latest News!

May 25 - Points are posted following race number 1 of the 2012 Maxxis Tires SKKS. The club race results will be shown on the "Club Results" tab, while the SKKS point standings will be shown on the "SKKS Series" tab under the Points page. Remember you can see the full run-down of finish orders and point standings by accessing the spreadsheet linked on the top of the SKKS series points page. See everyone on June 2 in Wellington!

May 1 - Several members have attempted to send me driver profile photos and profile information. Our site apparently only accepts photo files of the JPEG (.jpg or .jpeg) format, and the name of the file cannot contain any spaces. For those that have tried to send me their photos, please re-format your files to JPEG, ensure the name contains no spaces, and please re-submit. Alternatively, you may email them to me at wheatlandkartingassoc@yahoo.com and I will see that they get put onto the site. THANKS, and sorry for the problem.

April 16 - Several key changes are being made to the schedule surrounding our opening events for 2012. Due to the recent rainout and rescheduling of the Pro-Kart race in Winfield, track and equipment issues at Wellington, and schedule conflicts with key track personnel, the opening Maxxis Tires SKKS race will be pushed back to May 19, along with the following changes to upcoming practice and work days:

April 21 - Open Practice - Winfield, 2:00 PM until ??

April 28 - Pro Kart Race - Winfield (NO WELLINGTON PRACTICE)

May 5 - Track Work Day, 9:00 AM - 12:00 PM, and Open Practice 1:00 - 6:00 PM - Wellington

May 12 - Practice Rain Date (Winfield or Wellington, if needed)

May 19 - SKKS Race #1 (Double Show) - Winfield (No change to this date)

June 23 - SKKS Race #4 (Double Show) - Wellington (originally scheduled May 5)

These changes will allow ample practice time at Winfield and Wellington, allow us to support Winfield with the Pro Kart event, and allow the Wellington track drainage problems to be addressed despite the recent weather issues. We apologize for these late changes, but we believe they are in the best interest of all involved. Please review the Schedule page, as all of these changes have been posted.

April 16 - Wheatland Karting Association is pleased to announce that MAXXIS TIRES will return as title sponsor of the Southern Kansas Karting Series for 2012!! Maxxis contributed a great deal of financial support to the SKKS last year and we are grateful to once again have them on board this year. THANK YOU Patty Owens and everyone at GoldSpeed for your support!!

March 24 - Our insurance provider, NKA, has new requirements for minors who may be accompanying you to the track. Any minor who is not a member of your immediate family must bring with them a parental consent form to enter the pit area. This form must be signed by the minor's parent or guardian, dated, and notorized. Once submitted, that minor will be allowed to purchase pit passes at WKA events for the remainder of the 2012 season. Carmen will have these forms available on practice days. Until the form is submitted for a given minor, he/she will not be allowed to recieve a pit pass or enter the pit area. This is out of our control, but we must comply with our insurance requirements. Please contact Tony or Carmen with any questions about this new requirement.

A number registration page has been added to the website. We must simplify numbering this year to help out our scorers. Only two-digit numeric character numbers will be allowed. For $10, you may reserve your number for the 2012 season. You are not required to reserve a number, but if your kart in your class has a number that is reserved by someone else, you will need to change it before being allowed on the track. Contact Tony or Carmen Peters to reserve your number, and it will be posted as reserved for your class.

For 2012 -- Helmets meeting Snell M2005 or SA2005 (or later), SFI ratings 24.1 (youth), 31.1, 31.1a, 41.1, 41.1a, or newer specifications required in all classes. DOT specification helmets are not approved. Helmets must be full coverage, full face, and designed solely for motorsports competition. NO EXCEPTIONS!!

REMINDER: Help us build the website! Send us your photos that you take at the races! Either submit them via email to me via the club email address (wheatlandkartingassoc@yahoo.com) or upload them directly to the web server on the Photos page. Please keep the driver profiles coming too; thanks to all that have submitted a profile. If you submit something via the website and it doesn't show up in a few days, please let me know.
